A major maple syrup producer, Quebec’s Citadelle Coopérative (CC) has a solid track record in assisting small independent farmers to sustainably extract more value from their lands using regenerative agroforestry best practices. CC has agreed to collaborate with DTEC to increase the quantity and quality of forest cover on, and adjacent to, farms owned by their members.
Establishment of thousands of hectares of biodiverse forests that would sequester hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2e
As with the Smallholders Farmers Alliance in Haiti, DTEC has prepared Project Idea Notes (PINs) for a multi-year, large-scale Afforestation Reforestation (AR) project to be developed and certified to the Gold Standard, a leading climate change mitigation offset project standard. Both projects involve the establishment of thousands of hectares of biodiverse forests that would sequester hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2e and provide a multitude of important non carbon values and ecosystem services.
