250 hectares of ARR

Post Wildfire ARR Restoration Projects
CTaT is in the early planning stages of 2 large-scale, boreal forest, post-wildfire restoration-oriented ARR projects in partnership with Innu and Cree First Nation communities in the boreal forest region of Quebec. These projects target the restoration of over 35,000 hectares of wildfires destroyed and non naturally regenerating sites after the catastrophic 2023 wildfire season. CTaT has done the preliminary feasibility studies for 2 major pilots. These projects have the potential to additionally sequester a total of approximately 10,000,000 tons of CO2e over a 60-year crediting period, thereby creating a flow of 160,000 VCUs per annum. CTaT has assisted both communities in securing Natural Resource Canada funding to create the enabling conditions for these projects, as well as to support full community and stakeholder agreement that will hopefully culminate in a precedent setting Atmospheric Benefit Sharing Agreement with the Province of Quebec. The establishment of the first annual instance/cohort for both communities is targeted for the Fall of 2025.
